England

Wiltshire is an extraordinary county steeped in human history. It has big skies, huge vistas of open countryside giving a tremendous sense of space. This course unlocks some of its best kept secrets. Students can visit ancient sites such as Stonehenge and Avebury and experience the natural beauty of the landscape at dawn, dusk, in all seasons and in all weathers.

The course takes place at the farm where I grew up and tuition is held in an old farm building. Bed and Breakfast accommodation is available nearby.

Italy

Where I have lived and worked for the past six years, my knowledge of the language and my commitment to this area of cultural wonders is supported by a degree in History of Art and Architecture from the University of East Anglia and an Erasmus year at the University of Pisa.

Tuscany

If it is the true, rustic Italy you are after then join me in the most enchanting converted Romanesque Abbey south of Siena. Perched on a hilltop away from the stresses of everyday life. Surrounded by vineyards and cypress trees of the Ombrone valley. Tours are made to neighbouring medieval towns around Montalcino where you have the chance to inspire more than just your painting palette!

Venice

This course is held in a recently restored C17th farmhouse, hidden away on a private estate in a small provincial town, set in farmland beneath the Euganean Hills. This captivating landscape inspired Petrac, foremost Renaissance poet, and has provided ample subject matter for painters to this day. After a day’s work take time to relax by the pool before dinner is served on the veranda.
Excursions made to Venice (Guggenheim Museum) and Padua (Giotto frescoes in the Cappella degli Scrovegni)
